The Materials Module Manufacturing helps make informed circular material choices in packaging design. It provides an overview of the necessary knowledge and illustrates circular material options with innovative industry cases.
In a circular economy, we need to be more conscious about how we use our raw materials. It is essential to make a well-considered choice of materials. Within CIRCO, materials are always considered in relation to the application (product level) and the system in which this product functions (system level). The Materials Module Manufacturing Industry specifically looks at material choices when designing, for example, machinery, metal products, textiles and means of transportation. The module answers the question: what is the most sustainable material in the manufacturing industry? It highlights areas of concern in material selection and also briefly outlines relevant laws and regulations. The environmental impact of plastics, metals, ceramic materials, and natural materials is outlined. The module provides an overview of advantages and disadvantages for these different materials and inspires with innovative cases in this area. Thus, you are equipped with all the necessary materials knowledge for a circular manufacturing industry!
