End-of-life phase. The moment when a product is no longer used. And therefore also the moment to reuse all components and materials in a high-quality way. By designing circularly, you ensure that as many components and materials as possible can be reused after the first use. But services are also needed around this stage. For practical issues like return logistics and chain collaboration. And for earning options like refurbishment or facilitating a marketplace. Again, this is where design comes in. With Circular Design, you consider the end from the beginning. Or rather: with how you make sure that the end is not waste.
After all, when a user is done with your product, it doesn't mean that the product no longer has any value. But how do you organize that the product ends up in the right place after use? How do you ensure that the materials you put in it come out just as valuable? How can your product be dismantled? All questions that are important when designing for End of Use. The knowledge contributions on this page will help you design products and services that anticipate reuse and recycling.
