This is CIRCONNECT's privacy statement(last updated Aug. 24, 2022).

CIRCONNECT is a knowledge platform in the field of circular design. CIRCONNECT is formed by a network of knowledge institutions, industry associations, the design sector, regional accelerators and government organizations.

CIRCONNECT attaches great importance to privacy and the protection of personal data. In this privacy statement we describe how we handle personal data and what rights you, as a data subject, have.

All personal data is collected, processed and secured in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation ("AVG"). CIRCONNECT is the controller of the processing described in this privacy statement.

From whom do we process personal data?

We process personal data of persons with whom we (wish to) have or have had direct or indirect contact. Examples include: our contacts from the creative and knowledge industry, individuals associated with companies we have a relationship with, have had a relationship with or wish to have a relationship with, and anyone who expresses an interest in our activities.

 

What personal data do we process?

The categories of personal data we process are listed below:

 

Identifying data and contact information.
First and last name, gender, date of birth, address information, phone number, email address.

Details about your professional background
Company/organization, position, specialization, website, LinkedIn address.

Data on involvement with CIRCONNECT.
Involvement in projects, participation in events.

Correspondence
(Email) correspondence, ,er messages you send to us via social media, (notes of) conversation recordings.

Data that says something about the use of our website and social media
Activity on our website and social media, IP addresses, information collected by cookies (see also under Cookies), data that you actively provide or fill out in forms, data about the device with which you use our website.

Service provider data.
Billing information, payment information.

We receive most data because you provide it to us, for example, because you enter data on our website, because you communicate with us, or because you participate in an event. We may also actively approach individuals who may be interested in CIRCONNECT's activities.

If you follow CIRCONNECT on social media or communicate with or about CIRCONNECT, we may gain access to some of your public profile information. If you share information about CIRCONNECT through social media, your data may become visible through that social media. To whom do we provide personal data?

CIRCONNECT may use the services of third parties to process your data in accordance with this privacy statement. These parties act as processors for CIRCONNECT and CIRCONNECT shall ensure that these parties provide adequate safeguards with respect to technical and organizational security measures. Third parties acting as processors for CIRCONNECT have entered into a processor's agreement that includes that they will only process data on behalf of CIRCONNECT. Even when we organize an event or project together with third parties, we may share data with those third parties. If necessary, we will inform you separately about this.

Your data will also be passed on to other parties outside CIRCONNECT if we are required to do so by law, such as supervisory authorities, because we need to perform an agreement with you or if necessary to fulfill agreements with you. In addition, we provide your data to other parties we need in connection with our services.

 

How long do we keep your data?

Your data is not kept longer than what is necessary for the purposes for which it is collected or processed. CIRCONNECT uses different retention periods depending on the purpose and category of data.

  • Right to rectification if personal data is inaccurate or incomplete;

  • Right to data erasure if personal data is irrelevant to the purpose for which it was collected, if consent has been withdrawn, if you object to a processing of personal data based on a legitimate interest or if the processing of personal data is unlawful;

  • Right to restrict processing if you dispute the accuracy of personal data processed by CIRCONNECT, or you have objected to the processing of personal data by CIRCONNECT;

  • Right to data portability;

  • Right to object to processing or direct marketing. You have the right to object to the processing of your data in our legitimate interest. We will then make a new assessment to determine whether your data may no longer be used. You can also specifically object to the use of your data for direct marketing;

  • Right to object and human intervention in automatic decisions;

  • Right to file a complaint. This can be done with CIRCONNECT at info@circonnect.org or with the Personal Data Authority.

 

How do we protect your personal data?

We take appropriate measures to prevent the misuse, loss, unauthorized access, unwanted disclosure and unauthorized modification of personal data. Only persons who need access given their position will process your personal data. All these persons have a duty of confidentiality.

 

Changes

We may change our privacy statement from time to time. This may happen, for example, if there are new data processing operations or in connection with changes in regulations or technological developments. In case of substantial changes, we will notify you. If necessary, we will ask your permission for changed or new processing.
