This Module is about Safe by Design (SbD) and Substances of Very High Concern (PHS). You will learn more about SbD and ZZS, how to trace ZZs and provide some design directions to find solutions.
Substances of Very High Concern are quite complicated matters. There is a Dutch list of Substances of Very High Concern (ZZS) drawn up by RIVM. But also from Europe there are all kinds of regulations. Where do you find the right information and how do you apply it? And how do you find out if (a part of) your product poses a future problem and contains a possible ZZS?
Together with RIVM, CIRCO developed a practical Safe by Design module. This allows companies and designers to make an initial assessment of whether their product contains potential SDS and what consequences this may have in the chain in the future. If a company encounters ZZS, the module offers tools to find solutions using different design strategies.
