TNO

TNO is the Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research. TNO focuses on contributing solutions to 4 societal challenges:

• a secure society
• a healthy society
• a sustainable society
• a digital society

TNO connects these 4 societal challenges to strengthening the earning capacity of the Dutch economy.

In the context of the sustainability ambition, TNO is intensively involved in the development and monitoring of policy in the field of circular economy and in the development of technology that serves circularity. For example in the areas of plastics recycling, the use of digitalization for circularity in the manufacturing industry, circularity in construction and civil engineering. TNO does this by developing and applying models that provide insight into the environmental impact of circular measures (e.g. by performing LCAs), into the macro-economic impact of policy measures and ambitions and by providing insight into the consequences of new technology developments.

TNO performs these activities in close cooperation with (and supported by) societal partners such as the national, provincial and municipal governments, companies and umbrella organizations.
