The KIDV has compiled an overview of European and national policies on packaging and packaging waste, with the resulting legislation and regulations. A clear timeline has been made from this, which helps companies look ahead to new measures and provides insight into existing legislation.

The timeline is particularly useful for companies to look ahead to new measures, such as those aimed at reducing single-use cups and food packaging. The timeline also provides insight into existing legislation - such as the Packaging Management Decree amended last year - and mentions current issues, such as the extension of producer responsibility and higher recycling targets. Furthermore, the timeline includes documents from and references to the European Commission and the Dutch government, which underlie circular economy policy for packaging.
