The COVID-19 crisis triggered an acceleration in the event and hospitality industry to combat food and packaging waste. The lockdown created a need for new services and Single Use Plastic regulations made it necessary for entrepreneurs to look at materials and business models differently. The CIRCO Track featured creative solutions for circular packaging and data and ICT use.
CIRCO organizes Tracks: companies from one industry come together around a specific theme or with the entire chain. During 3 design days they work on concrete circular products, services and business models. CIRCO is happy to share these findings. In the CIRCO Track 'Event venues, hospitality and supply chain companies' it emerged that the COVID-19 crisis has accelerated a number of changes that can bring the very circular economy a step closer. The industry is feeling great pressure to use less single-use packaging and disposables. Especially now that Single Use Plastics regulations went into effect in early July. An important lesson from the Track, for example, is that data and smart ICT solutions can make an important contribution. The companies that participated in the Track also developed plans for practice that they could start immediately. This also created opportunities for new business models.
