The Dutch government wants to use raw materials more economically and smartly with the goal of a fully circular economy in the Netherlands by 2050. The government-wide program Circular Economyfocuses on this. The government's ambition is to work with social partners to achieve an (intermediate) target of 50% less use of primary raw materials (mineral, fossil and metals) by 2030.
So: 100% circular by 2050 and halfway by 2030. There is a timeline on the central government website where you can see the goals by year for the transition to a circular economy.
The government has set 3 goals to make the Dutch economy circular as soon as possible:
1. Existing production processes make more efficient use of raw materials.
2. When new raw materials are needed, sustainably produced, renewable (inexhaustible) and widely available raw materials are used as much as possible.
3. Develop new production methods and design new products circularly.
